Prentice Goods, Founder of The Houston Launch Pad, was born and raised in Houston, Texas. Goods made a choice to “Make a Difference” in his city after a career shift in his own life in 1998. It was out of his discovery of need for services and housing for homeless men and women recovering from substance abuse that The Houston Launch Pad journey was initiated. The Houston Launch Pad began in 1998 as a Homeless Shelter for men, located in Southeast Houston. The primary purpose of the shelter was to provide a safe haven for homeless men, many who were recovering from substance abuse. It was through diligence, needs assessment, working together with other organizations and listening to the voice of the people he served that Goods applied for grants to deepen and expand program services.
Today The Houston Launch Pad has served hundreds of individuals and has continued to evolve adding Job Quest Training, Job Placement, Basic Computer Skills training, Life Skills and Homeless Veteran Reintegration Program (HVRP).
The Houston Launch Pad's goal is to bridge the gap for individuals, while they rebuild and enhance their lives; it continually assesses the needs of clients to provide them with quality, custom, professional and dedicated services that will empower them to "take control of their lives".
Truly, those who begin the journey with The Houston Launch Pad are on a “Countdown to life with purpose, potential and possibilities.”
